I’m Syed Umar Imam, a 19-year-old cinematographer based in Karachi, Pakistan. With over two years of experience in the field, I’ve earned three national videomaking awards and have had my work selected for multiple film festivals. As a Director of Photography (DoP), I’ve worked on numerous short films, many of which have won awards.
Cinematography is a language—I use camera shots and sizes, lighting, and composition to tell stories. I love shooting handheld, using motion to communicate emotion, and am deeply in love with the on-set experience that comes with being a DoP. My goal is to captivate audiences through compelling storylines, presented with gripping visuals.
